Cliffs Of Moher

Stretching for 8km (5 miles), as the crow flies, the Cliffs of Moher have long enjoyed the status of one of Ireland's most visited tourist attractions – and the visitor centre provides the pivotal point to direct lovers of nature, geology and simple beauty in the right direction. The cliffs also form part of the Burren and Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Global Geopark. They are made up of various types of perpendicular or overhanging rocks including sandstone, siltstone and shale and those views – oh the views – stretch for miles and miles and miles …

Cobh

Cobh (pronounced Cove), a pretty seaside town with the second largest natural harbour in the world is chocolate box perfection. Dwarfed by a 19th century Catholic cathedral, colourful houses dot the seafront, against a backdrop of sloping streets and rolling hills. Cobh was also the last port of call of the HMS Titanic and its spine tingling history permeates throughout the city, notably in the shape of a fantastic museum. The folks here will offer céad míle fáilte (a hundred thousand welcomes) so if the weather is bad – and it rains 225 days a year – just relax and enjoy the fabled Irish hospitality over a pint.

Skellig Islands

The magnificent Skellig Islands lie 8 miles (12 km) off the coast of Portmagee in South West Kerry. Rising majestically from the sea, Skellig Michael towers 714ft. (218 metres) above sea level. On the summit of this awe-inspiring rock you will find a remarkably well preserved sixth century monastic settlement now designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Small Skellig is equally renowned in matters of ornithology as the home of some 27,000 pairs of gannets – the second largest colony of such seabirds in the world.

Galway

Galway has a decidedly different vibe to any other Irish city or large town. Known as the City of Tribes, culture beats at its heart; art, song and dance skip through the streets as a brisk Atlantic wind does; and food and drink fuel the belly of this city along the Connemara coast. Creativity fills the air, making this a must stop city for thinkers and creatives of all kinds.
